Third party ownership

Third-Party Ownership (TPO) in association football is the ownership of a player’s economic rights by third-party sources. The third party can be football agent or sports agency or hedge fund. When a player is traded then partners own % of their shares in the player.

TPO is banned by FIFA. When traded, the player needs to have only 1 owner. The practice is to prevent situations where the player is influenced by big groups to move to the future club OR it’s already nurtured with the destination agreed by co-owners before.

What happens in Bitcademy then?

We nurture the player and football fans can help us out with it in the form of sponsorship. They can sponsor players or pool of players (depends on the type of investment they choose) and then participate.

Is it TPO?

It’s not. Smart Contract that works between our fans and academy is working between us and fans. Players are owned only by 1 owner and it’s Bitcademy. We know where investors come from as we launch KYC process before they can invest to show FIFA they are not associated with football clubs that can bias future trades.
