I dropped my pourover coffee dripper, and the handle broke off. So I’m in the market for a new one.

I have become more concerned with end-of-life when purchasing new things. So now if I buy something like a coffee dripper, ideally I can just put it in the recycling if it breaks or I want to get rid of it (if it’s not worth donating, selling, etc).

Bamboo does bio-degrade, and luckily brands are now making more and more things out of bamboo.

Regarding my new coffee dripper, a quick google search reveals that ceramic takes 1,000 years to biodegrade. And so does glass! So one of those hip, 1970’s Chemex drippers is out of the running. It seems a stainless steel pourover dripper is the way to go, and options are slim. There are a couple name-brand drippers which use their own proprietary size for the filters, and I’m not sure if I want to go that route, especially as the name brand ones tend to have plastic parts like handles attached to the metal.

Waiting as I find my own refined solution can be fun in itself!
